Obama / McCain - Mac / Microsoft

I was recently emailed an interesting question from a designer friend, “Can anyone tell me why Republican’s don’t get design?”

He brought up an interesting point about Obama’s website and branding. It is very clean and patriotic. The design is not overdone and everything on the pages work together. The banners, buttons, icons all fit within the theme. There is also room within the design to breath. You can look at it and still be relaxed.

Now take a look at McCains website. I wouldn’t say that the site is horrible, but it is not as easy to look at. It looks like they have to have everything right there in your face. There is no room to rest your eyes. It is information overload.

So, the question arises, can we compare Obama and McCain to Mac and Microsoft
